"A big recommendation for the self-titled debut album by SILVER GALAXY. The Berlin-based group features Anna-Maria Van Reusel on modular and keyboard synthesizers and voice, and a very imaginative guitarist Dennis Slypen, both of whom appeared on a track from the "MODULAR SESSIONS 7 - Les Femmes Electroniques" limited run CD. But even that innovative piece which develops from krautrock to full-blown prog couldn't prepare the listener for the wonders of this album, which somehow manages to span electro-pop, electronic minimalism, modular synth music and many other styles while sounding totally original. Van Reusel is one of the few using modular synth systems to create powerful melodic lines, while the vocals and some very creative guitar vary from experimental to more conventional - there's even a (fragment of a) Kate Bush cover in there somewhere. Whether you like Tangerine Dream "Sessions", krautrock by Cluster, Philip Glass, electro-pop from Erasure or Vince Clarke, or the advanced abstract electronica of Robert Henke, this album will reward your attention. It's on Bandcamp and other outlets and can be previewed on YouTube, where you'll also find some excellent Silver Galaxy live sessions."
